Luxury travelers flock to Antigua and Barbuda as it has a long reputation as an upmarket destination. There is excellent scuba diving and snorkeling available off the east coast, but most of the resorts are on the sunset side of the island, and the most common activity is relaxing with maybe a bit of shopping thrown in. These islands also have some of the Caribbean’s finest beaches, with Antigua itself boasting 365 of them. This means finding an isolated beach for yourself is relatively easy.
The official language here is English so it’s very popular with wealthy Americans, Canadians, and Brits, but it draws other Europeans and a great number of famous people have holiday homes here. This isn’t one of the most expensive Caribbean islands to fly to, and there are many longhaul nonstop flights (especially in season), but it is rather expensive to stay at any of its resorts

There are around 40 hotels and resorts on Antigua and Barbuda, with most being along the west coast of the larger island of Antigua. This is a rather expensive island to stay on so it’s not ideal for budget travelers, but it’s fantastic for those with larger budgets who want to stay somewhere beautiful and somewhat exclusive. The all-inclusive resorts tend to be in the mid to high range on these islands, but they do offer good value when booked as a package.
To most, the best time of the year to visit is between mid December and mid April. During this time of the year, visitors will find a comfortable and relaxing alternative to some of the harsher winters that the north experiences. If visiting during this time however, you’ll end up finding that hotel prices increase significantly and the amount of other visitors in the area is pretty high.
If you rather skip the higher prices and crowds, then it might be best to plan a visit during either the shoulder seasons or the low season. The shoulder seasons consist of the month of May and early December. Both of these times of year are found to have pretty average prices coupled with great weather.
The low season is the time of the year when the least amount of people visit. This in turn drives the hotel prices down and makes for a great time to travel if you’re more of a budget traveler. You’ll also find that this part of the year tends to offer lower prices on flights as well.

The main airport on Antigua is large enough to handle long-haul flights so you can fly directly here from many large cities along the east coast and from Europe. Others will change planes in Miami, Atlanta, or San Juan, Puerto Rico on their way.
