Having gone back and forth between British and French rule, these two islands have a mixed history and influences but Saint Kitts and Nevis are definitely more British. English is the official and dominant language so the islands are popular with North Americans and Brits alike. The low population on each island gives them an unhurried feeling, and everything is pleasantly spread out.
These are fairly casual islands compared to some of the others nearby, with many great beaches to relax on. There’s also excellent diving and snorkeling available, including several notable caves and shipwrecks just off shore.
These islands aren’t among the cheaper ones to reach by air, but they can be quite reasonably priced once you arrive so they are a good choice for those who can get a good airfare or package deal or those interested in avoiding the super popular cheaper islands.

For such a small island, there is a surprisingly large amount of things to do and see. Scuba diving is arguably the number one attraction here with some fantastic boat tours available to join. Snorkeling is also revered and a good choice for those who don’t like the idea of being under water for long.
On land there are a few tours, including ziplining and ATVing, so there really is something for everyone. Of course you can also choose to relax at the beach or your resort’s pool.

A volcanic island, St Kitts supports a tropical climate that sees constant sea breezes and very little to no temperature variation throughout the year.
May to November however, is the rainy season with most rain occurring during the night or early morning. If it does rain during the day, usually the showers come and go quickly.
When packing, make sure to bring light clothing that breathes and stretches along with a few swim suits.

There are about 30 hotels and resorts on Saint Kitts and Nevis, with the largest concentration on the southern part of Saint Kitts, but there are quite a few on Nevis as well. Unlike most Caribbean islands, there are many budget choices here, plus a decent group of larger luxury resorts so all price ranges are represented.
If you visit during the rainy season, May to November, you’ll find lower hotel prices relative to the rest of the year. During the winter months, more visitors crowd the area, helping to increase hotel prices.

Most flights land at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, which is one of the smaller airports in the Caribbean, though it is large enough to handle wide-body planes from North America and Europe.

Taxis are the easiest way to get around, with some of the drivers being guides as well. You’ll tend to find drivers waiting outside of the hotels and resorts, making it easy to pick one and get going. You can also rent a car, but remember you’ll need to secure a local driver’s license first.
