If you want to see what a city of 20 million people looks like, São Paulo might be one of your better choices. The (slightly) inland location of this monstrous metropolitan area helps keep many international tourists away, but it’s a fascinating place and one of the richest cities in the Southern Hemisphere.

Food and drinks are similar in that it won’t be a challenge to find affordable eats, including many Asian choices served up by the large diaspora here. But hotel restaurants and fancy places will not be cheap, so it pays to do some research if your budget is modest.

Noted as having both a tropical and mild climate, Sao Paulo is a great visit any time of the year. Not having much as far as seasonal changes are concerned, visitors can expect mostly sunny days with cool to warm temperatures.
Summer, December through March, is a great time to visit with sunny days that are made for exploring the beaches. Just make sure to wear sunscreen if you tend to burn easy. Also, be prepared for a random rain downpour. Luckily these downpours don’t tend to last long allowing for you to still get out and explore. Winter is known for slightly cooler weather that is great for those who like to bundle up in a comfy sweater.

As rich as it may be, São Paulo is also known for having a huge economic underclass as well. This contributes to the fact that there is a huge range in prices here for almost everything, including hotels and restaurants. You can find very affordable hotels and hostels as long as you aren’t too picky, yet the top end places cost a fortune.
The city plays host to a variety of different hotels, all falling into different price brackets. But they all have one thing in common- hotel seasons. During the summer, December through February, prices generally go up while during the opposite time of the year, prices fall pretty significantly.
